As a part of the leadup to the 2010 Winter Olympics held in Vancouver, host broadcasting company CTVglobemedia announced that they would allow users to vote on the ten best CanadianOlympic Winter moments. The results were presented on a one-hour television special later in 2009 hosted by Brian Williams and Claude Mailhot, and broadcast by CTV, TSN and its french counterpart RDS.[1] The top 3 were also be added to the Royal Canadian Mint's special series of commemorative 25-cent coins for the Olympics.[2]
The initiative was promoted across many of CTVglobemedia's properties, including its Olympic websites, on-air advertisements, print advertisements, and billboard signs. A contest was also be held alongside the voting that would award two people with a trip to the games.[2]
