This list encompasses fictional characters with the paranormal or superhuman ability to manipulate darkness. It typically manifests in one of two forms:

  • The ability to manipulate or neutralize light, resulting in an utterly lightless area.
  • The ability to manipulate darkness as a tangible substance, rather than considering darkness as the absence of light.

In some fiction, the latter form is sometimes linked to the manipulation of an extradimensional realm.

For this list, Media refers to the genre or media in which the character first appears or appears most frequently. These are in order of publication.

Publisher(s) indicates the publisher(s) that produced the primary works featuring the character, if the character is from Western media. For characters from anime or manga, the Series with which the character is associated is given instead. In the case of a series, the main series is listed instead of the various spinoffs or sequels. (Example: Dragon Ball instead of Dragon Ball Z or Dragon Ball GT.) This information is also listed in order of publication.

Source is a brief definition of the character's power, such as "Inherent", "Mutant", "Magic", etc. A note field expanding on this can be included under the character's listing.
